Follow the tin
Every tin carries a feeding table and preparation instructions. Follow them exactly; the right ratio of powder to water matters.
Hygiene first
Wash your hands, clean the preparation surface, and sterilise bottles, teats and caps before use.
Responsive feeding
Every baby is different. Watch for hunger and fullness cues rather than focusing only on amounts.
Starting solids
Talk to your healthcare professional about when to introduce complementary foods, usually around 6 months.
When to seek advice
Contact your doctor promptly if your baby has persistent vomiting, diarrhoea, poor weight gain or refuses feeds.
